Supporting our UW roots

When I was in college at UW Madison, creating short films was an important part of my learning process. It was also an early avenue for passion projects that led me to founding Spoken Frame Media.

As a UW grad, I know just how difficult it is to access quality production equipment. Film gear is expensive, but even renting for a weekend can cost well over $1000.

Last year, when a group of UW students and alumni reached out to Spoken Frame Media for help with a short film, I discovered a great way to give back.

Outside of class, these blossoming filmmakers don’t have access to the gear needed to put their visions into practice.

As a professional video production company, Spoken Frame Media has access to some cool stuff–including plenty of professional-grade cameras, lenses, microphones, and lights that we’re not using on a daily basis.

For the second year in a row, we’ve lent these students and alumni our lesser-used equipment–free of charge–to help them produce a short film.

As a company that values education and positive impact, this is our way of fostering Wisconsin’s film community (and saying thanks to my alma mater).

The short film titled Maneater will premiere this year. You can keep up with the production on Instagram @maneatershortfilm.
