Our Approach To Instagram And TikTok

Let's talk about social media to round out our content strategy series.

As a video production company, we post to platforms that favor video - most notably Instagram and TikTok.

Although both platforms feature short-form video content, they have their differences.

Here’s how our content marketing strategy makes use of both channels.

Instagram

With Instagram’s classic photo feed, we feature behind-the-scenes snapshots of our production process. We capture these photos with an extra, high-quality camera kept on set.

Our feed highlights the level of quality we’re producing for both ourselves and our clients. This is where we show off the production process and interact with our clients by tagging them in photos.

We repurpose our Youtube videos for Instagram Reels, trimming them down into bite-sized clips and adjusting them to the preferred vertical format.

For Instagram Stories, we keep it casual, using a phone to create quick, daily content for our followers to enjoy.

TikTok

Like Instagram Stories, TikTok prefers vertical, phone-recorded videos. Plus, this platform favors authenticity, which aligns with our core values.

We share clips while on production to highlight our clients, processes, and day-to-day in a more approachable way.

Yes - we have the equipment to create commercial-quality productions, but that’s not what TikTok is for.
Instead of making the platform fit our content, we create content to fit the platform - a vital piece of any successful content strategy.

Social media is constantly changing.

That concludes our peek behind the curtain of the Spoken Frame content strategy. I hope this series has inspired you to revisit your approach but remember: Our strategy is what works for us (and our clients).

When devising your content plan, start by asking yourself these two questions:

  1. What type of content does my ideal client want to consume? For example, we don’t do gear reviews of our equipment because we want to reach potential clients, not fellow filmmakers.

  2. On which platforms does my ideal client consume content? It’s simple. Don’t put all your effort into TikTok if your ideal client prefers to browse LinkedIn.

And remember, just as social media is constantly changing, so should your content strategy.
